Plum Lime Residency

The Plum Lime Residency provides artists with a large private studio in the Chelsea Gallery District of New York City for 4-5 weeks to create a new body of work, host studio visits, immerse themselves in their practice, and take advantage of being in the heart of Chelsea! The Plum Lime Residency is offered in the Winter, Spring, and Summer.

Plum Lime Residents receive:

  • Access to the Canopy Program Studio, a free large private space for 4 weeks with 24/7 access

  • A Studio visit with an invited gallerist and/or curator

  • Open studio event at end of residency!

  • A feature on the NYC Crit Club website and Instagram

One artist will be selected as the Spring 2024 Plum Lime Resident.

  • To apply, you will need:

    • website -- or -- link to artwork (Google Drive or PDF) featuring 10-15 artworks

    • CV

    • explanation of art background

    • brief statement of intent

    • $20 application fee (March 7 - 24) — fee will increase to $25 on March 25

    • All artists over 21 years of age; who have a dedicated art practice may apply.

    • BFA / MFA or an extensive CV are not required but your application should illustrate an ongoing dedication to your work and art practice.

    • Artists may apply from anywhere.

    • Participants must be able to cover all travel costs, lodging and food; as they are not provided.

Hannah Root
Director at Pace Gallery (NYC)

Hannah Root is a Director at Pace Gallery where she works in sales and as an artist liaison. A lifelong New Yorker, Hannah’s interest in art began early on visiting museums and galleries alike. A career in the art world felt inevitable. Hannah is dedicated to supporting and educating in inclusive lifelong relationships with artists, galleries, institutions and collectors. Through her work at Pace Gallery she looks to champion transparency, opportunities and unification. 


The Plum Lime Residency was established in 2021 and was originally based in Bushwick (Brooklyn, NY). We are honored to have hosted 9 Plum Lime Resident Artists since 2021. We look forward to continuing to offer this invaluable opportunity in our new Canopy Program Studio in Chelsea (NYC). We encourage all artists to apply!
