Mentor Bio
Sam Wilson is the owner and founding director of Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Manhattanโs Tribeca neighborhood. Sam co-founded the gallery with two other artists in 2004 in a storefront space on Union Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Initially a weekends-only project space, the gallery expanded under the direction of the three owners into a full-time operation representing artists from across the country and internationally. The gallery relocated from Brooklyn to Manhattan in 2011, and from the Lower East Side to Tribeca in 2022.
Sam attended the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 2001 with a BFA in Printmaking. He maintained an active studio practice in New York for several years until he set aside his own work to focus on running the gallery. In addition to curating and producing hundreds of exhibitions over 20 years, Sam has taught a Professional Practices course in studio art programs at RISD and NYU Steinhardt. He has also been a visiting critic and lecturer at RISD, Parsons, Pratt, Hunter, SVA, and other residency and studio programs around the country.โ
